Martha Gonzalez

March 27, 1958 — September 24, 2024

Martha Beatriz Gonzalez was born on March 27, 1958, in Mendoza, Argentina, to the late Alberto Squillaci and Anna Squillaci Germanò. She was the third eldest of five siblings: Maria E. Squillaci, Jose A. Squillaci, Rolando D. Squillaci, and Alicia I. Squillaci. From her early years, she excelled academically, graduating at the top of her class as valedictorian from her high school in Argentina. During this time, her father received a career opportunity in Venezuela, prompting the family to move. Martha accompanied her parents to Maracay, Venezuela where a fateful meeting on a dance floor would mark the beginning of the next chapter in her life alongside her inseparable soulmate.

On August 24, 1985, she married Emil A. Gonzalez, whom she shared 38 loving years of marriage. Martha and Emil lived and worked in Venezuela where they opened their first business together, a store named Emmar. In 1989, as conditions in their country began to decline, the young couple made the courageous decision to move abroad in search of a brighter future for their family. They settled in Houston, Texas, where they welcomed two daughters: Kathleen Gonzalez and Maureen Gonzalez. Martha was a devoted mother, always present to take her daughters to school every day and their after-school activities. She was the heart and soul of her family, always ensuring that everyone felt united and had a place at the table. Her dog, Nina, held a special place in her heart and brought immense joy to her life. She cherished the daily walks with her "Pelucita", whom eagerly looked forward to their time together.

During this time, Martha rekindled her entrepreneurial spirit, establishing two new businesses with her husband: Emmar Designers and America Building. Martha was incredibly passionate about her work; creating custom clothing, home décor, and providing alteration services for her clients. She was deeply committed to the quality of her work and treated all of her clients as friends. Outside of work, Martha held several hobbies she enjoyed on a daily basis such as; cooking, gardening, attending Catholic mass, throwing parties, and spending evenings with Emil sharing their favorite novelas. Martha taught us to love one another as we are and to come together as a family. She loved hosting gatherings and events, always making sure everyone felt included. Martha was famous for her remarkable cuisine and enjoyed feeding all of her family and friends.

With profound sadness but grateful hearts, we share that Martha Beatriz Gonzalez passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, in Houston, Texas surrounded by her loving family and friends. She is now in the hands of God and reunited with her parents in eternal rest. She will be remembered by all as the loving heart that kept everyone united. It is now our turn to carry on her Legacy of Love and Unity. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on through all of us forever.
