Maria "Lucy" Williams

Maria Lucila Williams entered into eternal rest on June 14, 2023. Lucy passed away in her sleep at her home in Houston, Texas. She was 88 years old.

Lucy was born October 26, 1934 to Eusebio Lujan and Maria Leonides Cruz in San Andres, Nayarit, Mexico. She is survived by her son John Williams and daughter Julie Escobar, son-in-law Xavier “Jake” Escobar, grandchildren Jeffrey Escobar and Jessica Escobar. She also leaves behind her twin sister Petra Lujan Contreras, Maria de los Angeles Lujan Cruz (sister), Alicia Langarica (sister) and husband Rodolfo, Fortino Lujan (brother), Reyes Lujan (brother) and wife Jonda and brother-in- law Vicente Rivera along with numerous nieces and nephews and special caregiver Patricia “Pati” Priest.

Lucy is preceded in death by her parents Eusebio and Maria, her husband Lloyd Williams, her brother Javier Lujan, her sister Emma Lujan Cruz, her sister Gloria Lujan Rivera, her brother-in-law Nico Contreras and her sister-in-law Marta Lujan.

Lucy grew up in Xalisco, Nayarit, Mexico. She began teaching there after graduating college and receiving her teaching certificate. She later moved to Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. While working there in Juarez she met her future husband, Lloyd Williams. They met through mutual friends while Lloyd was working in El Paso, Texas. Lloyd and Lucy married in 1966 and she moved to the United States. She was a devoted wife and mother. Lloyd and Lucy lived most of their married life in Houston, Texas where they raised their two children. Lucy started childcare in her home in 1981. She was a very special caregiver to numerous children of all ages.  In 2002 her childcare for her grandkids began.  She had a special bond with Jeff and Jessica. Lucy was a wonderful Christian woman. She was member of Airway Baptist church for nearly fifty years. In her later years she shared her gardening talents at the church. She helped keep the flower beds beautiful outside and kept up with the potted plants inside. We miss her green thumb.

We will all miss Lucy very much.  We appreciate your love, support and prayers.   Lucy will be laid to rest at Parker Cemetery in Flo, TX.  She will be buried next to her beloved husband of 31 years, Lloyd.
