October 31, 1942 – December 28, 2024
Elvira “Vera” Adams Melchor, 82, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 28,
2024, in Gonzales, Texas, surrounded by her children and grandchildren after a courageous
battle with Parkinson's disease.
Vera was born on October 31, 1942, to Guadalupe T. Adams and Alicia M. Adams-Gomez. She
was the beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She was the
epitome of grace, kindness, and devotion, a true follower of Christ. Her unwavering love and
support for her family were the cornerstone of her life.
Vera devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, always putting their needs above her
own. She taught them the values of compassion, resilience, and integrity, and her gentle hand
and loving heart nurtured them through every stage of life - through love and loss she
encouraged her children to remain faithful and fiercely loyal to family. She built a home that was
a sanctuary of warmth and joy, a place where friends and family gathered to share in her
infectious laughter and enjoy her delicious meals. Her generosity and ability to make everyone
feel loved and special were unmatched.
Fondly known by her grandchildren as Memaw, she will remain an inspiration, and their
memories together will remain forever etched in their hearts.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Isabel Hernandez Melchor Jr.; her father,
Guadalupe Adams; her mother, Alicia Gomez; her stepfather, Tim Gomez, and sister, Rachel
Adams.
Vera leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will inspire all who knew her. She is
survived by her children: Michele Amway (Mark Spagnoletti), Christopher (Janet) Melchor, and
Diana Hull; five grandchildren: Jonathan (Krystal) Amway, Christopher Rene Melchor, Mason
Hull, Madalynn (Candido) Barbosa, and Tanner Hull; seven great-grandchildren, including Emilia
and Oliver Hull, and Emilee Amway; sister Angie Delgado, brothers Greg Adams, Gilbert
(Frances) Adams and Michael Adams, her loyal German Shepherd dog, Clutch, and countless
family members and friends who were touched by her kindness and love. Though Vera is no
longer with us, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved.
