Elida E. Tovar de Chavez

Elida E. Tovar de Chavez, born on October 4, 1954, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 70.

Elida was the beloved daughter of Elena Rodriguez and Franco Tovar, both of whom preceded her in death. She was one of eleven siblings and is remembered fondly by her surviving brothers Nemecio, Ruben, Armando, and Bruno, as well as her sisters Marisela, Lillia, Luisa, and Esmeralda. She was preceded in death by her sister Guadalupe and brother Carlos.

Elida’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a caring mother to her three sons—Armando, Miguel, and Ivan—and four daughters—Martha, Claudia, Elida, and Elizabeth. She also cherished her grandson Cristian, who held a special place in her heart as though he were her own son. Elida’s legacy lives on through her 36+ grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought immense pride and happiness to her life.

Known for her loving and free-spirited nature, Elida was the light and life of her family. She had an extraordinary ability to bring comfort and joy to those around her and was deeply involved in the lives of all her grandchildren. Her warmth and vibrant spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Elida’s memory will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration to her loved ones. May she rest in eternal peace.
