Edward Carl Mathis

Edward (Eddie) Carl Mathis, 66, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Eddie was born April 1, 1957, to James D. (Jake) Mathis and Evelyn Marie (Kuhn) Mathis, in Houston, TX.  Eddie worked for Mathis Iron Works for 33 years as a welder and had lived in the Pearland area for 28 years. He was the most loyal, hardest working brother, father, friend, man, we could have ever asked for or known.

Eddie is proceeded in death by his parents and brothers, James D. (Jimmy) Mathis and Thomas Gregory Mathis; his first wife, Barbara Ann (Whittington) Mathis, and baby son, William Avery Mathis.

Eddie leaves behind his sisters, Nancy (Mathis) Copeland (Charles), Rosemary (Mathis) Epperson, and brother, Christopher (Chris) William Mathis (Ava); widows, Susan Mathis and Connie Mathis; his children, Amanda (Mandy) Lee Mathis (Casey), Shane Edward Mathis, stepdaughter, Tracey Triplett Graham (Mike), and longtime companion, Artie Jo Wilson.

Also left to cherish his memory are his beloved grandchildren, Serena Lorraine Mathis, Sofia Mathis, and Casey Edward Hofstetter; many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, dear cousins, and many, many friends.

Eddie enjoyed outdoor life and was an avid fisherman, loved to go camping, ride his Harley motorcycle and attend the annual Galveston Bike Rally, play cards (Poker and Hold’em), supported multiple local youth org. fundraisers/raffles, BBQ cook-off competitions, and spending time with his family and friends.

We would like to acknowledge and thank the skilled Doctors and Nurses at the 3^rd Floor CVICU at SE Memorial Herman Hospital, for their sincere kindness and excellent care during Eddie’s brief stay.

Eddie’s Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 1pm, at Integrity Funeral Home Chapel on 8601 Almeda Genoa, Houston, TX 77075.  Pastor Windell Gill will officiate the service.

Directly following the Memorial Service, the Mathis Family wishes all family and friends to join us for a repass meal hosted at the Pearland Knights of Columbus Hall located at 2320 Hatfield Road, Pearland, TX 77581.
