Alvin Moore

January 29, 1945 — May 25, 2022

Luling, LA

Alvin Moore, age 77, rested from his earthly labor and resigned his soul to the Lord on May 25, 2022, in Houston, Texas. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His passion and integrity for those he loved were unwavering. His infectious smile and laugh will live on forever. Alvin was born on January 29, 1945, to Walter and Ada (Kinsey) Moore in Minden, LA. When he was young, he and his family became residents of the Watts neighborhood in Los Angeles, CA, where he attended David Starr Jordan Senior High School. Alvin had a lifetime passion for cooking, music, and basketball. He was a chef in his own right, and it was a delight to taste a meal prepped by his hands. He embraced all NBA teams and was a dedicated fan of the San Antonio Spurs. For music, he possessed an extensive knowledge of R&B, Blues, and Jazz. Having been a crooner himself at one time, he would occasionally gift those around him with his vocal talent. Alvin was a soft-spoken, patient, kind-hearted man of strength and integrity. He had the gift of making everyone feel like family. He constantly made it a point to check in on people and was always a source of positivity. His greatest gift, though, was in his manifestation of God’s love. His family will miss his big presence in their lives but rejoices knowing he is in peace and resting as the good and faithful servant he was. Throughout his lifetime, Alvin lived in various places including, San Antonio, Texas, before spending his final years in Houston, Texas with his wife and heart’s treasure, Tina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ada Moore, and siblings, Roosevelt Moore and Walter Joe Moore, Jr. Alvin leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Tina Moore; five daughters, Patricia Ada Roberson (husband – Troy Roberson), Antoinette Marie Williams (husband – Elmer Williams), Dawn Tate (husband – Malcolm Tate), Ra’Nisha Pickett (husband – Jonas Pickett), and Ashley Frederick (husband – Alexander Frederick); two step-daughters, LaTawnya Woods and Summer Woods; step-son, Eric Woods; sister, Barbara Hamlin; thirty-three grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
